Dear Parents/Guardians:
The Lester B. Pearson Summer Program should be seen as one step in an overall plan designed to support students who are experiencing difficulty in specific subject areas during the regular school year.
Your child’s regular school (home school) may recommend a summer program for a variety of reasons. Before enrolling in a summer program, parents and students should first discuss with the home school the consequences of successfully/not successfully completing a summer school course. A summer program should be seen as a supplement to the full course and not as a replacement or general review.
The Summer Program curriculum will be based on the essential components of courses offered during the regular school year. Students and parents should be aware that there is not sufficient time to cover all
course content during the Summer Program session. Important topics will be reviewed and taught, but it will be the student’s responsibility to make sure that they are properly prepared for the evaluations. Each class will be meeting for two (2) hours daily. Successful completion of any course does not guarantee placement for the subsequent school year. This decision rests with the student’s home school administration.
